POSITIONS VACANT
Assistant Programmer
The position requires a competent person to join a project team of consultant programmers and business analysts to deliver world class business management software now in its advanced stage.
Working under the instruction of the consultant programmer, the incumbent will improve on existing modules, create new modules and or respond to issues raised by the project implementation team. He/she is also expected to visit client site to solve installation issues and trouble shoot MySQL related problems.
The following are prerequisite for a candidate to competently carry out the above assignments.
• Java programming skills: Basic Object Oriented programming concepts. Should also have skills in J2SE and J2EE i.e. should be comfortable in working Servlets, JSP pages, JDBC, and .basic Java files.
• Database: Should be conversant in using MySQL as a database management system.
• Java libraries: Should have worked with common java libraries e.g. the Apache commons,etc. Use of Jasper Reports will be an added advantage.
• Servlet container: Should have skills in using either tomcat or glassfish containers. But consideration for using other containers like JBOSS or WebLogic.
• Web Skills: Should be conversant in using css, JavaScript and AJAX. Use of jquery plugins will be an added advantage.
Other Experience:
The ideal candidate will have been involved in development, either as an individual or in a team, of a business management system whether web based or on a desktop platform.
Nature of Appointment.
This is a full time appointment.


Consultant programmer
Busytech Computer system is in the process of upgrading its Barba Inventory Control Systems to include a POS and Hotel reservation check in system. In this regard, it wishes to engage a competent person to advice on barcode scanning technology and/or access card interfacing with reservation systems.
The consultant should have past experience in integrating barcode scanner to POS systems in particular in Java based systems and should in addition offer insight on java code optimization to improve efficiency.
The services should be offered at our Norwich Union house offices at times convenient to the consultant but most preferably Saturdays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
